  • Rehabilitated Former LTTE Youngsters Back Home

    NINETEEN youth and six children, formerly worked for the LTTE and contributed to LTTE terrorist acts received complete rehabilitation and walked back to their parents on Sunday (24) after their rehabilitation process at Thelippalai Rehabilitation Center culminated successfully. Those youth sought the protection of the armed forces during the peak of Wanni humanitarian operations after realizing the vanity of the LTTE brutality and its violence.

  • Chinese Envoy Calls on Commander of the Army

    The Ambassador of People's Republic of China in Sri Lanka, HE Mr Yi Xianliang on Friday (17) paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva at the Army Headquarters. The cordial meeting that exchanged views on several bilateral aspects in relation to both People’s Liberation Army of China and Sri Lanka Army was largely focused on ongoing cooperation for training programmes.

  • Student Officers Visit Wanni Headquarters

    One hundred and fifty officers together with ten foreign student officers presently studying at the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) Batalanda, visited the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) on Tuesday (9) as a part of their training programme.

    EAST: CLOSE on the heels of the humiliating military defeat in the north, a five-member team of Tiger terrorists who might have slipped into the eastern PERIYAPILLUMALAI area, BATTICALOA miserably failed their terrorist mission early Wednesday (20) morning at about 6.15 a.m. when 232 Brigade troops shot them down.  The routine surveillance carried out daily by the troops was reaching PERIYAPILLUMALAI area when they suddenly observed a suspicious movement on the roadside. As they were taking necessary precautions, hiding gunmen suddenly opened fire towards the troops.

    Cricket history of the Sri Lanka Army has now entered into a new phase after Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for the first time, selected Lance Bombardier R.T Sandaruwan to be the main Scorekeeper of the ongoing Sri Lanka Vs Pakistan first Test Match, now underway in Galle. Sri Lanka Army Cricket Club has already produced two players to the Sri Lanka’s National Cricket Team, five woman players to the Sri Lanka’s Women’s National Cricket Team and now, the Scorekeeper to the Sri Lanka Cricket Team, adding new strides to the field of cricketing in the country.
  • Two Brigadiers Assume New GOC Duties in SFHQ-W

    The newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 56 Division of the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) Brigadier D.M.W.W.W.M.R.B.M Daulagala, assumed duties at his office on Wednesday (28) after a formal ceremony. A brief religious ceremony, headed by Ven. Ananda Thero at Madukanda Temple invoked blessings on the new office.
